Before you choose

What to compare in a vinyl floor

  • Core type

SPC has a dense stone-based core that resists dents. WPC has a softer core that can feel warmer and quieter underfoot.

  • Wear layer

This clear top layer takes the daily traffic. A thicker wear layer generally suits busier homes, kids and pets.

  • Installation

Click-together planks float over the subfloor, while glue-down holds firmly in place. The right choice depends on the room and what’s underneath.

Common questions

Waterproof Vinyl questions

Still have a question? Call us at (804) 512-0615 or see all FAQs.

Is all vinyl plank waterproof?

Not always. Many current products are sold as waterproof, but it depends on the product. Check the specifications and warranty of the exact floor you’re considering.

Is vinyl plank good for basements?

It’s a common choice, because many products handle moisture well. The slab still has to be checked first, so we look at it during the estimate.

What’s the difference between LVP and LVT?

LVP stands for luxury vinyl plank and usually looks like wood. LVT stands for luxury vinyl tile and usually looks like stone or ceramic.
